Small Groups

J.O.Y. Groups
In 2018, our church formed small fellowship groups called “JOY” groups.
J.O.Y stands for “Jesus, Others and You”. Presently we have three JOY groups which anyone may join. The three groups each strive to meet at least once a quarter.
Meetings are to provide opportunities for fellowship and for deepening relationships. This happens primarily around the table as a meal is shared. That meal might be a potluck at church or in a group member’s home, or in a restaurant, or even outside for a picnic.

Women on Mission
All ladies of Pocahontas Bassett Baptist Church and their friends are welcome to participate in this missions group.
Our Women On Mission group supports three major annual mission offering collections, or “in-gatherings,” during the year.
In-Gatherings
Spring: The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship Offering for Global Missions
Fall: The Baptist General Association of Virginia’s Alma Hunt Offering for State Missions
Winter: The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship Offering for Global Missions
The WOM’s local missions projects vary as they arise and according to need.
They may include: making phone calls, sending cards and making visits, assembling and giving birthday gift bags to residents in assisted living facilities, and supporting ministries such as “Hope to Walk”. H2W provides affordable prosthetic legs to people in other countries.
Meeting dates of WOM
Meetings are scheduled and advertised on the church calendar and on Sunday mornings in Sunday School class, so stay tuned.
